Solar battery prices in Ireland (2026)
A 5 kWh battery costs €3,000–€4,500 and a 10 kWh battery €5,000–€6,500 when added to an existing solar system. Fitted at the same time as the panels they cost less, and the €600 SEAI battery grant applies either way.
Battery price by size
| Battery size | Added to an existing system | Fitted with the panels | SEAI grant | Common models |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 kWh | €3,000–€4,500 | from €2,300 | €600 | Huawei Luna2000, Sofar, Dyness |
| 10 kWh | €5,000–€6,500 | from €3,800 | €600 | Huawei Luna2000 (2 modules), Sigenergy |
| 13.5 kWh | €9,000–€11,500 | from €9,000 | €600 | Tesla Powerwall 3 |
Prices are before the grant. The grant needs a battery of 5 kWh or more.
What a battery saves
Without a battery a typical home uses about 40% of its solar electricity and exports the rest. A battery stores the daytime surplus for the evening, so more of it replaces electricity you would otherwise buy.
- 5 kWh battery: about €156 a year extra on a 10-panel system
- 10 kWh battery: about €237 a year extra on a 10-panel system
These figures count solar storage only. Charging the battery on a cheap night rate can add to the saving. Try the numbers in the price calculator.
